As a creative and outdoorsy person, spontaneity is where it's at for me. It's that special ingredient for a soul-fed life that allows us to follow our gut and dive into journeys of self-discovery and exploration that rigid and busy schedules often prohibit.
I've learned that a 9-5 routine restricts me from showing up in my life the way that I want to. I've learned that both creativity and motivation ebb and flow, and you can't force either. I've now made a commitment to live a more spontaneous life, where I feel alive and able to respond to life's ups and downs with ease.
I can't tell you how many times I planned a weekend adventure on a thursday during 30 degree heat, only to reach the weekend and cancel due to shit weather - it honestly felt like a sick joke at times and i'm sure some of you can relate! Wouldn't it feel great to pull up to that campsite just as the weekend rush heads back to the city? That's the sort of Time-Freedom I am creating with affiliate marketing.
Finding the balance between following my passions and my very human need for safety and security has been quite a journey. Initially, I hopped from job to job until I found a sweet spot. Just enough work to pay the bills, and just enough flexibility to do the enjoyable things that kept my sanity intact. But let me tell you, it wasn't sustainable, and it definitely wasn't making me bank.
When I discovered the power of building an online income, it was a game-changer. It was the best decision I ever made! Yes there is work involved and it takes effort, but I will soon have the freedom to pursue my passions and embrace a lifestyle that allows me to be more of my authentic self. I laugh now, but for as long as I can remember I have felt haunted by the question "what are you going to be when you grow up?" It made me cringe. It felt like choosing a life-long sentence. I didn't even know myself yet, let alone my purpose in life.
The options available felt limiting and uninspiring. Fear of making the wrong choice and being stuck in a career I hated led to indecision, and I ended up floating from one industry to another, hoping to find my niche. I pushed aside my creative and spiritual passions, thinking I could never make a living from them, and settled for the safety of a consistent paycheck.
But the typical 9-5 office jobs stripped away the best hours of my day, leaving me feeling lifeless in a fluorescent-lit cubicle. Weekends became a rat race with overcrowded beaches and packed campgrounds. Working evenings seemed like a solution for a while, I loved the calm mornings and sunny days, but this too came with its own set of challenges - like rarely seeing my partner throughout the week and working weekends while others were planning fun trips.
After years of flip-flopping between day and night, one thing became clear: trading all my time for a capped paycheck wasn't the answer. The energy in never seemed equal to the energy out and I realized there had to be a better way! That's when I discovered affiliate marketing as the missing link to achieve financial independence, flexibility, and the ability to thrive instead of just getting by.
